HSHS hospitals offer athletic performance training sessions this summer

Many injuries in young athletes are due to overuse during practice and games or the result of improper movement mechanics and muscle imbalances. If you have a son or daughter in sports and want to reduce their chance of injury, HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals are offering sessions on how to improve athletic performance and agility. This injury-prevention program is geared toward athletes in middle school, high school and college.

Two eight-week sessions are being offered:
• In Eau Claire: Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., June 20 to August 15 (no session July 4) at Sacred Heart Hospital (900 W. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire)
• In Chippewa Falls: Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., June 20 to August 15 (no session July 4) at the HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services offices (2509 Co Hwy I, Chippewa Falls)

Athletes will receive personalized instruction for safe movement and increased performance allowing them to gain strength and confidence to move forward in their sport. The program is led physical therapists from HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals’ Rehabilitation Services.

The cost is $50 per person. Space is limited and registration is required. To register for the Eau Claire sessions, call 715-717-4338. To register for the Chippewa Falls sessions, call 715-717-7455.
