Visitor Restrictions/COVID-19

As we continue to evaluate our operations to co-exist with the COVID-19 pandemic, we have revised our visitor restrictions to a point that we feel comfortable with in the best interest of our patients and colleagues. These changes will go into effect on June 10, 2020.

General Visitor Guidelines:
  • All adult patients may have one (1) designated person (same individual per day) as part of their care team, and person must stay in the patient room at all times.
  • Emergency department patients may have one (1) support person who is required to be in the patient room at all times; extenuating circumstances will be evaluated by the local unit.
  • Patients nearing end-of-life will have special arrangements made on a case-by-case basis.
  • All outpatient services patients may have one (1) person with them during a test/procedure, and that person must remain in the designated area at all times; if patient is admitted, the rules of that unit will then apply.
  • Patients having surgery may have one (1) support person that remains in the designated area at all times.
  • Pediatric patients under the age of 18 may have one (1) parent or guardian present (newborn patients may have both parents).
  • Obstetrical patients may have one (1) support person and Doula support.
  • L.E. Phillips-Libertas Treatment Center and HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital behavioral health patients will meet visitors in the open milieu at each location.

All visitors will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms, including having their temperature checked immediately upon arrival. In instances where a visit is not possible, HSHS encourages the use of phone calls, text or video chat. Loved ones can also call our hospitals directly to be connected to patients’ rooms via telephone.

In addition, no flowers will be accepted and delivered to patients rooms. If you do come to the hospital, please utilize the Emergency entrance, which is open 24/7, for all needs. Dialysis patients may use the front entrance, where they will be screened before their procedure.
